Marine Biological Laboratory President to Step Down

WOODS HOLE – Huntington F. Willard, who has served as President of the Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL) since January of 2015, will step down at the end of April.

According to president of the University of Chicago and chair of the MBL Board of Trustees Robert Zimmer, Willard helped the lab “make progress in key areas,” and secure “a bright future.”

Until Willard’s successor is identified, University of Chicago members Melina Hale and Neil Shubin will co-lead MBL starting May 1st.

MBL explores biology, biodiversity, and the human condition through education and research.
