Non-Profit and State Rep Team Up For Holiday Card Drive For Military Members

CC4TroopsSANDWICH – An effort to send holiday cards to military members overseas wraps up at the end of the week, and Cape Codders are invited to participate.

The annual Christmas and holiday card drive is put on by Cape Cod Cares for Our Troops. State Representative Randy Hunt (R-Sandwich) is using his office on Quaker Meeting House Road as a drop-off location for the cards.

Residents can address the unsealed cards to “American Service Member” and can drop them off 24 hours a day until Friday, when the drive ends.

“I believe it is important to express our gratitude for the sacrifices our armed forces make to protect our country and I am privileged to be able to help Cape Cod Cares for Our Troops with their annual Christmas and Holiday card drive. We tend to forget that there are many military men and women continuing to serve in foreign countries and in dangerous situations,” Hunt said.

Cape Cod Cares for Our Troops will hold its annual packaging party at the Trowbridge Inn and Tavern in Bourne on Saturday from 11 am to 4 pm, when care packages, including the holiday cards, will be boxed up and mailed to troops overseas. Volunteers are still needed for that effort.
