HARWICH – Republican candidate for the Cape and Islands State Senate Anthony Schiavi has received the endorsement of two local state representatives.
Tim Whelan, from the 1st Barnstable District, and Randy Hunt, from the 5th Barnstable District, are supporting Schiavi and praise his three decades serving with the United States Air Force and National Guard.
“Tony has the diverse set of skills, energy and front-line experience to address the many critical issues facing the region,” Hunt said in a statement.
“We are facing trying times ahead in insuring the safety of our citizenry, while the world around us seems to be in chaos. Tony is a proven leader with a lifetime spent protecting our nation from its enemies,” Whelan said.
Schiavi faces Jim Crocker in the republican primary.
Julian Cyr and Sheila Lyons are running as democrats. Current Cape and Islands State Senator Dan Wolf is not seeking re-election.
The primary election is September 8.
