Seashore Appoints New Natural Resource Chief

NinaEASTHAM – Officials with the Cape Cod National Seashore have appointed a 20-year veteran of field ecology to the position of Chief of Natural Resource Management and Science.

Dr. Nita Tallent comes to Cape Cod from the Park Service’s Mojave Desert Network Inventory and Monitoring Program. She will be charged with collecting and analyzing data about the Seashore’s natural resources.

“Nita brings a tremendous background in field science and resource management,” said George Price, the Superintendent of the Cape Cod National Seashore. “In addition to her experience in the sciences and resource management, she has a passion for fostering high-performing teams to address the challenges that national parks are currently confronting, such as climate change.”

“Nita will be a major asset to our senior management team, and we are glad she is on board,” Price added.

“I am excited to continue my public service at Cape Cod National Seashore, and it is a pleasure to work with such an exceptional team of scientists, educators, and managers,” said Dr. Tallent. “What an incredible opportunity and honor to participate in the sustainable use and protection of the natural and cultural resources of the National Seashore.”

Dr. Tallent takes for for Jason Taylor. She will reside in Wellfleet.
