SANDWICH – A major blaze erupted in Sandwich around 2:15 PM. Firefighters responded to Russo’s Cape Cod Bark Landscape at 145 Route 130. A large storage building was reported fully involved with several explosions reported. A 2nd alarm was struck to bring additional personnel to the scene. Hazardous Materials technicians were also requested to the scene for possible chemicals in the building. Firefighters took a defensive stance using large hose streams from outside and from above over a ladder truck. Water also had to be sprayed on a mulch pile near the building. One firefighter was evaluated for a minor injury.. Traffic on Route 130 in the area of Quaker Meetinghouse Road was being delayed due to the fire.
