BREWSTER – Firefighters from several towns responded to a reported house fire in Brewster. The call came in just before 5 PM for 81 Glenwood Road off Slough Road. Initial reports say the 1.5 story house was fully involved. All residents were reportedly able to evacuate safely, however, one person was evaluated for unknown injuries. By 5:45 PM the heavy fire had been knocked down but crews expected to be on scene for some time. The State Fire Marshal was requested to investigate the cause of the fire.

Update from Brewster Fire: On Wednesday January 6 at 4:54 p.m. Brewster Fire was dispatched to a structure fire at 81 Glenwood Road. On arrival units found a 2 1/2 story wood frame private dwelling fully involved in fire. Due to the amount of fire on arrival units from Brewster and mutual aid companies from the Harwich and Dennis fire departments initiated exterior suppression operations with large caliber hose streams. The main body of fire was knocked down quickly and the fire was placed under control approximately 30 minutes later. The homeowner was transported to Cape Cod Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The fire remains under investigation by officials from Brewster Fire, Brewster Police, and the State Fire Marshal’s office.
