UPDATED: injured in overnight/early morning Chatham crash


CHATHAM –
On Sunday at 1:09 AM, Chatham Police and Fire personnel responded to a reported car crash on Shore Road near Courtnell Road. Officers arrived and determined that three cars had been involved in a crash. A Dodge Ram pickup truck crossed the center line and first struck a Toyota Tundra, sending that vehicle spinning off the road. Continuing to travel in the opposite lane, the Ram then hit a Nissan Sentra head on. As a result of the crash, three people were transported to Cape Cod Hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

Following an investigation on scene, Luke Lowans, 33, of Chatham, who was identified as the driver of the Dodge Ram, was arrested and charged with Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol, Operating to Endanger and a Marked Lanes Violation.

Shore Road between Old Harbor Road and Barcliff Avenue was closed for approximately four hours as the crash was investigated. Chatham Police and Fire were assisted at the scene by Harwich PD, Harwich FD and the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office.
