Barnstable Police announce promotions


HYANNIS
From Barnstable Police: Barnstable Police Chief Matthew K. Sonnabend is pleased to announce the promotions of two Sergeants to the rank of Lieutenant and five officers to the rank of Sergeant. Sergeant Gretchen Allen and Sergeant Jennifer Ellis will be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, and Patrol Officer Nathan St. Onge, Patrol Officer Matthew Blondin, Detective Meaghan Cunningham, Patrol Officer Kevin Fullam, and Patrol Officer Joseph Green will be promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

Lieutenant Gretchen Allen is a 20-year veteran of the Department, having been assigned to Administrative and Executive Services for the past six years. Lt. Allen has worked as the Accreditation Manager, as well as a member of the Personnel Selection Unit as a Background Investigator, and is the current Team Leader of the Department’s Peer Support Team. Lt. Allen holds a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Western New England University.

Lieutenant Jennifer Ellis is a 20-year veteran of the Department, having been assigned to the Community Impact Unit for the past five years and supervised it for over three years. Lt. Ellis has worked as a School Resource Officer, and a Field Training Officer. Lt. Ellis is a certified Mental Health First Aid Instructor and the coordinator of the Community Crisis Intervention Team. Lt. Ellis holds a Juris Doctorate in Law from Southern New England School of Law and is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association.

Sergeant Nathan St. Onge is a 6-year veteran of the Department, currently assigned to the Patrol Division. Sgt. St. Onge has worked as a Field Training Officer, a Mountain Bike Officer, and a Civilian Dispatch Trainer. Sgt. St. Onge holds a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Phoenix.

Sergeant Matthew Blondin is a 12-year veteran of the Department, currently assigned to the Street Crimes Unit. Sgt. Blondin has worked as a Field Training Officer, as well as a Task Force Officer involved in numerous narcotics and violent crimes investigations. Sgt. Blondin is a veteran of the United States Air Force, holds an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Cape Cod Community College, and will graduate in December with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Southern New Hampshire University.
