HYANNIS
– Barnstable Police and State Police Detectives assigned to the Cape & Islands District Attorney’s Office are investigating what’s being described as an “apparent homicide” in Hyannis Wednesday afternoon. A statement from Cape & Islands District Attorney Michael O’Keefe’s office said officers responded to the scene on Yarmouth Road around mid-afternoon. No further information was immediately available. Multiple Barnstable Police units and a SWAT team were on the scene in the 300 block of Yarmouth Road after a man was found with trauma wounds.

Police set up a perimeter and Yarmouth Road was closed between Camp Street and Route 28. Both off ramps at exit 7 were also closed. Motorists were urged to use Exit 6 as an alternative.

Our reporter at the scene observed a person being taken into custody but its unclear if he was charged with anything. We will update this story as soon as we get details.
