SAGAMORE – Bourne firefighters called for the Barnstable County Technical Rescue Team (BCTRT) after a parachutist reportedly became stuck on the cliffs off Highview Avenue along the shore in Sagamore Beach around 4 PM Saturday. According to reports the victim was stuck about 50 feet down the steep cliffs. Just after 5 PM, the tech rescue team had lowered the victim to the beach where he was driven in a pickup to a waiting ambulance. The victim was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Plymouth. His condition was not immediately clear.
Statement and video from Bourne Police: A paragliding accident on Sagamore Beach led to a multi-agency cliffside rescue under the on scene command of Fire Chief Norman Sylvester. Agencies involved were Bourne PD, Bourne FD, Sandwich FD, Barnstable County Tech Rescue Team, Plymouth FD. Injuries to the male paraglider are believed to be non-life threatening.
