WAREHAM – From Wareham Fire: Halloween was quite a busy day here for Group 1 in Wareham! It all started at approximately 2:45 PM, when our friends from Onset Fire had a report of a working fire in their district, which eventually ended up as a second alarm structure fire.
Wareham Fire responded as mutual aid to their district. We sent E1 to the scene (duty crew), L1 to the scene (staffed by our call department out of Station-1), Assistant Chief Kelley (C3) to the scene and finally E4 (staffed by our call department out of Station-1) to Onset Fire headquarters for station coverage.
While we were already out of town, a fire alarm activation came in on Marion Road and using the remainder of our call department at Station-1, we were able to staff two more engines (E2 from Station-2 and E3 from Station-3)to respond with Chief Rowley (C1) to investigate. The incident was determined to be accidental and all companies returned to Station-1 for coverage.

Once all trucks were cleared from Onset and back in at Station-1, at 4:34 PM we received a call for a smoking dumpster on Cranberry Highway. Assistant Chief Kelly (C3), E1 (duty crew) and E4 (staffed by or called department out of Station-1) responded to the scene to find a fully involved dumpster fire. Crews worked for a short time to extinguish the fire and returned back to quarters.
When would say that was a busy day, but it continued on for Group 1. That evening, Group 1 responded to three separate motor vehicle accidents are within 20 minutes of each other all over town.
E1 (duty crew) responded to the first MVA on Cranberry Highway by Depot Street around 6:55 PM. The accident was minor in nature and Wareham EMS obtained a patient refusal. E1 was then called from that scene at 7:04 PM to respond to Main Street by the Decas School for a second MVA. Wareham EMS transported the occupant of the vehicle and E1 took care of hazards. From there at 7:15 PM, E1 was finally dispatched to Cranberry Highway by Sandwich Road for a third MVA, this time with reported injuries. Wareham EMS responded and transported one patient and had one document of refusal.
