UPDATED: Crash involving box trucks reduces traffic to 1 lane on Route 6 in Wellfleet

WELLFLEET – A collision involving two box trucks on Route 6 in Wellfleet shortly before 9 AM Tuesday reduced traffic to one alternating lane. The crash happened near Castagna Lane. One person was taken to Cape Cod Hospital for evaluation. The crash is under investigation by Wellfleet Police. By 9:45 police advised the road was fully open and traffic was flowing.

In a statement, Wellfleet Police tell CWN that on Tuesday at approximately 8:53 AM, Wellfleet PD & FD responded to a 2-vehicle crash on Route 6, in the area of Marconi Beach Restaurant. Upon the officer’s arrival, they located a large box truck on the shoulder of the eastbound lane of Route 6. A second large box truck was blocking the westbound lane of Route 6. Route 6 traffic was reduced to traffic flowing in a single direction, with officers alternating the flow of traffic for approximately 30 minutes.

One operator was transported to Cape Cod Hospital for an evaluation of injuries that were not life-threatening.

Box truck #2: Red 2016 PK Terra, owned by Cape Cod Express
Operator – Chase Cunningham, 20, of Hyannis, MA

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Wellfleet Police Department.
