FALMOUTH – The annual Falmouth Fireworks Display brings with it significant traffic congestion as spectators make their way home after the event. In recent years the Falmouth Police Department has implemented a traffic control plan to help address this concern. Each year it makes adjustments to the plan in order to continually improve. The following is the traffic control plan that will be in place for the 2015 display. The Department thank all spectators for their anticipated patience and cooperation.
Falmouth Heights Road at Main Street: All traffic from Falmouth Heights Road will turn left onto Main Street. The officers may also direct traffic to turn right onto Davis Straits if Main Street is unavailable for traffic.
Teaticket Highway at Jones Road/Worcester Court: Vehicular traffic traveling on Worcester Court will turn right onto Teaticket Highway. No westbound traffic onto Davis Straits will be allowed. No traffic will be permitted onto Jones Road.
Gifford Street at Jones Road: Vehicles are prohibited from turning onto Jones Road. Northbound vehicles on Gifford Street will continue northbound and southbound vehicles will continue southbound.
Palmer Avenue at Jones Road: Traffic will be prohibited from turning onto Jones Road. At times, officers will have to stop the flow of traffic on Palmer Avenue to accommodate traffic turning onto and off of Ter Heun Drive.
Maravista Avenue Extension @ Teaticket Highwa.: Traffic traveling northerly on Maravista Avenue Extension will be directed to turn right (easterly) onto Teaticket Highway. Vehicles traveling westerly on Teaticket Highway will be directed to turn right onto Homestead Lane. There will be a barricade at the entrance to Heritage Circle so that nonresidents do not turn onto this road.
Teaticket Highway at Sandwich Road: All eastbound traffic will turn left onto Sandwich Road. All southbound traffic on Sandwich Road will be directed to turn right onto Teaticket Highway.
Gifford Street at Main Street: Westbound traffic on Main Street will be directed to continue westerly on Main Street or to turn right onto Gifford Street depending on congestion. Eastbound traffic on Main Street will be directed to turn left onto Gifford Street. Southbound traffic on Gifford Street will be directed to turn right onto Main Street.
