Reported stolen vehicle crashes in Provincetown


PROVINCETOWN – A Jeep Grand Cherokee that was reportedly stolen crashed on Route 6 in Provincetown about 7 AM Friday. The crash reportedly happened near the Truro town line. The driver was transported to Cape Cod Hospital and taken into custody by police.

CWN has learned it all started when Orleans Police ran the license plate on a vehicle which revealed it was stolen. Eastham Police spotted the vehicle a short time later but it took off at a high rate of speed. Eastham Police shut off lights and sirens and continued in the direction the vehicle was seen continuing toward Provincetown. According to reports, “stop stick” tire deflating devices were deployed by the Provincetown/Truro town line. The vehicle lost control and overturned. The driver fled on foot but was quickly captured. He was expected to face numerous charges.
