Harwich Police charge two men in alleged drug-related shooting


HARWICH –
Harwich Police are charging two men following a shooting incident Monday night around 6:30 p.m.

The alleged victim told police that he had agreed to meet the suspect to conduct a drug deal for marijuana.

The drug deal reportedly went wrong and turned violent which resulted in the suspect allegedly shooting
at the victim as he fled the scene in his vehicle. At least two rounds struck the victim’s vehicle as he drove away.

That person, who has not been identified, was able to provide police with a vehicle registration and a description of the suspect as well as a second person who was inside the vehicle.

The suspect’s vehicle was found a short time later with two men inside meeting the description given by the victim.

David Gonsalves of Harwich, and Haakim Johnson-Burroughs of Georgia, were both arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and drug distribution. They were both scheduled to be arraigned in Orleans District Court.

The exact location of the alleged shooting was not immediately released by police.
