DENNIS – The Dennis Police Department in conjunction with the Dennis Fire Department confiscated a large quantity of fireworks from several locations in Dennis. The estimated value of the fireworks is between $7000-$8000. The State Fire Marshalls Office has made a concerted effort this year to minimize injuries and fires caused by fireworks. As part of that effort, The Dennis Police and Fire Departments remind citizens that the possession of fireworks is illegal in Massachusetts, and that all fireworks found will be confiscated.
UPDATE: The photo below shows members of the Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad loading a portion of the seized fireworks into a Massachusetts Department of Fire Services trailer Sunday afternoon. The team was reportedly headed to Hyannis to pick up the cache of fireworks confiscated there on Friday (see story here).
