Man charged with over 30 cases of “tagging” in Hyannis

HYANNISFrom Barnstable Police: On January 7, 2019 Barnstable Police Detectives and Patrol Officers arrested 24 year old Nicholas Tawatao of Hyannis after a month’s long investigation into over 30 incidents of “tagging”. Patrol Officer Travis Brown initiated the investigation after noticing a large number of buildings vandalized by spray paint. The graffiti was unique, with the signature “BLSD” in each of the incidents. Tawatao was identified as a suspect and taken into custody on a warrant. A search warrant executed at Tawatao’s home revealed nearly 100 cans of bright colored spray paint, specialty painting nozzles and sketchpads outlining his work.
