MASHPEE – From Mashpee Police Chief Scott Carline: On Thursday, the Barnstable School District received a message on their anonymous tip line indicating a possible “Planned attack at Mashpee High School tomorrow”. Mashpee Police immediately initiated a full investigation to include a threat assessment analysis based on the information received working collaboratively with Mashpee Superintendent Patricia DeBoer and Mashpee Middle-High School Principal Mark Balestracci. Although it would be inappropriate to comment on an ongoing investigation, there does not appear to be any type of credible threat involving any school within the Mashpee Public School District. Mashpee Police have initiated extra patrols at all three schools and will continue to keep the safety and security of the students as the highest priority. Again this is an ongoing investigation and anyone with any information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Mashpee Police Department at 508-539-1480.
