Military members; first responders recognized at annual Military Support Foundation Dinner

BUZZARDS BAY – The Cape Cod Military Support Foundation Inc. and the Otis Civilian Advisory Council Inc. recognized the recipients of the 2017 Annual Military Awards Saturday night.

The event recognized both military and non-military personnel for their outstanding contributions and support to Joint Base Cape Cod, its mission, and most importantly the men, women and families who are assigned there.

“We have expanded the number of recognitions this year”, said Don Cox, President and CEO of the Cape Cod Military Support Foundation, a nonprofit that support Active Duty Military, National Guard and Coast Guard families at Joint Base Cape Cod and Coast Guard Sector Southeastern New England, and co-sponsor of the event.

“Not only are we continuing a 39-year tradition of recognizing outstanding performance of our military and Coast Guard, but we have expanded to include recognition of outstanding volunteers, as well as outstanding civilian and civic support to the military and Coast Guard families who are such an integral part of our community.”

More than 200 attended the Awards Ceremony and Banquet at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy to honor the 25 award recipients.

The ceremony also included recognition of those involved in the rescue of the passengers and crew of the M/V Iyanough on June 16, 2017 of Hyannis Port.
