BOURNE – Officials began searching for a female driver of a crashed vehicle in Bourne Friday evening. The crash happened on Shore Road near Red Brook Harbor Road sometime before 9:30 p.m. The vehicle reportedly went over the guardrail and down an embankment ending up on its roof heavily damaged in the Herring Run. A passerby reportedly attempted to help the woman but she could not be found when rescuers arrived. Because of unknown injuries along with possible snow squalls and rapidly dropping temperatures, Bourne Police and Fire assisted by a Barnstable Sheriff’s Office K9 unit quickly began canvassing the area. The victim was located some time later a short distance from the crash and was taken to Falmouth Hospital. The crash remains under investigation by Bourne Police.
