Provincetown Fire Chief Marks 25 Years Leading Department

PROVINCETOWN – The man who has led the Provincetown Fire Department for the past 25  years will be honored this week.

Michael Trovato began his 26th year of chief on January 19, 2017. Provincetown is one of the last volunteer departments on Cape Cod.

The Barnstable County Fire Chief’s Association will hold an event in Trovato’s honor Wednesday evening at Napi’s Restaurant in Provincetown beginning at 5:30.

Orleans Fire Chief Tony Pike said serving as fire chief in the same town for 25 years is an accomplishment that few attain.

“To train and incentivize a volunteer fire department is truly a skill we should recognize in Chief Trovato,” Pike said.

Dennis Fire Chief Mark Dellner, who served 15 years as chief in Rochester, New Hampshire and is in his 12th year as Dennis Fire Chief, said Trovato is a skilled professional.

“Being a fire chief for that length of time shows Mike is very adaptable and able to work with town citizens and government leaders alike,” Dellner said.

Dellner described Provincetown as a challenging environment with the close proximity of its wood-frame construction and high population in the summer months.

“Under Mike’s leadership, his department has always risen to the challenge,” he said.

As part of the celebration on Wednesday, a certificate of recognition and plaque will be given to Trovato for his 25 years of service.
