Special United State Flag of Honor deployed in Yarmouth this weekend

YARMOUTH
From the Yarmouth Police: In special honor of fallen Yarmouth Police Department K9 Sergeant Sean M. Gannon, the United States Honor Flag will be on display at Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters on Saturday, May 18, 2019 from 5PM to 8PM outside at the 9/11 Memorial Garden which will include a special lowering of the flag at Sunset.

In addition, the Honor Flag will also be on display outdoors at the K9 Sergeant Sean M. Gannon Memorial 5K Road Race on Sunday May 19, from 9AM to 3PM at The Skipper Restaurant on South Shore Drive in South Yarmouth.

Since September 2001, the United States Honor Flag has paid tribute to those who have lost their lives in the line of duty protecting our lives, our homes and our country, and also those who currently serve our communities and our nation.

Shortly after the September 11, 2001 attacks, a flag was gifted to Chris Heisler by the Texas House of Representatives. A hand written note thanked Chris for his efforts. Signed, Texas  House of Representatives.

Like many Americans, Heisler felt compelled to take action during a horrific time for the United States, and with this flag in tow, he set out for Ground Zero.

Along the way, Heisler helped to organize one of the longest police motorcades in the history of the United States, bound for Ground Zero bringing many tokens of support together with other agencies, to our nation’s Heroes.

Please come and see this very special flag this Saturday at Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters from 5PM to 8PM and this Sunday at the YPD K9 Sergeant Sean M. Gannon 5K Memorial Road Race from 9AM to 3PM.
