Wareham package store accused of selling to minors

WAREHAMFrom Wareham Police: On Thursday, August 15, at about 7:00 p.m., a Wareham Police detective was making observations near the Liquor Locker package store on Cranberry Highway. The detective saw a male enter the store and was aware he was not 21 years of age. He observed him purchase a bottle of alcohol and stopped him a few minutes later seizing the liquor. A twenty year old Brockton resident will be summoned to court for being a minor in possession of alcohol. The detective went back to the store and identified the employee who sold the liquor. Anthony Rose, 38, of East Wareham, will be summoned to court for selling liquor to person under 21.

Last month on Tuesday, July 23, another detective observed a female walk out of the Wareham Liquors package store on Main Street with a bag containing alcohol. The detective was aware that the female was under 21 years of age and confronted her. The bag, containing a six pack of beer was confiscated. After a brief investigation the clerk at the store, Dipenkumar Patel, 31, of Wareham, is being summoned to Wareham District Court for selling liquor to a person under 21. The 20 year old Wareham resident is being summoned for being a minor in possession of alcohol.

Both cases will be referred to the Board of Selectmen for their review.
