Corporal William Baker Armed Force Hero
Sgt. Brendan O’Byrne
What does war do to young men and women? Brendan O’Byrne talks honestly and openly about his experiences serving in Afghanistan and his struggles upon returning home from combat.
Brendan now sees his mission as holding conversations with individuals and groups to educate people on the brutality of war, the bond that develops between soldiers in combat and helping to bridge the gap between civilians and veterans.
Brendan has been a part of Sebastian Junger’s movies “Restrepo”, “Korengal” and “The Last Patrol” and is featured in his book “War” giving the viewers a peek into the psyche of a warrior, not just a soldier.
Brendan is a role model and hero not only to other service members, but for civilians, helping us all learn more about what heroism is and what it truly looks like.
