Affordable Housing Partnership Awarded Money

COURTESY OF THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PARTNERSHIP

Eastham – The Cape Community Housing Partnership has been awarded 20-thousand dollars from the Worthington Campbell Jr. fund of the Cape Cod Foundation.

The money will help fund an initiative to assist in building community support for affordable housing.

The project is already underway and will last a year.

The three components of the project are educating committee leaders, creating resident advocates and building community awareness.

Since most issues related to affordable housing are put to a town meeting vote, the foundation wants the residents to be able to make informed decisions.

The housing situation on Cape Cod is being described as a crisis by the Foundation.

Both the Community Development Partnership and the Housing Assistance Corporation have each committed to raising 120-thousand dollars to help launch the initiative.
