Art Enthusiasts to have Plenty to See in Provincetown

KA_Ptown_provincetown_march_commercial street off season_030916_029PROVINCETOWN – The summer season on the Cape is getting closer and art-lovers looking to add to their collections will have an opportunity in Provincetown.

America’s Oldest Continuous Art Colony features more than 60 art galleries perfect for summer gallery strolls.

In addition to the many galleries in town museums welcome visitors to browse and interact with visiting artists.

The Fine Arts Work Center and Provincetown Art Association and Museum  present exhibitions and readings, the majority of which are open to the public and offer guests a chance to view and purchase art.

The Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum hosts its own special exhibit. The current program highlights “The Great Provincetown Summer – 1916,” which presents objects, art and narrative about a period when art and culture luminaries came together in P-Town and provided the foundation for the town’s cultural heritage.

The town also features several festivals and celebrations. The early summer features the annual International Encaustic Conference which brings together a community of artists with gallerists, curators, critics and collectors interested in the ancient process of encaustic painting, which mixes colored pigments with melted beeswax that is applied to a surface.
