Barnstable plays Falmouth on Thanksgiving Day in 2016

BARNSTABLE – Barnstable High School is celebrating one of their most successful fall sports seasons in recent memory.

Every fall sports team, boys and girls, qualified for postseason play. It’s the first time in over twenty years the Red Raiders have accomplished that feat.

The defending state champion Barnstable volleyball team record a perfect 18-0 season before falling to Newton North in the state semi-finals.

In boys golf, the Barnstable team placed third at the state championship while senior Holden Elletson won the Division 1 title.

The boys soccer team won the Old Colony League title before losing in the state quarterfinals. The girls soccer team also lost in the quarterfinals after qualifying for the MIAA tournament for the first time in 16 years.

The Red Raiders football team qualified for postseason play and lost to top-seeded King Phillip in the playoffs. King Phillip will play for a state Super Bowl title this weekend.

The Barnstable field hockey team won the Old Colony League title outright and lost to Canton in the state quarterfinals.

The girls cross country team won the Old Colony League regular season and league meet titles. Boys cross country picked up a number of wins in a series of meets.

Barnstable cheerleading finished first in their division in the recent competition at Oliver Ames.

“We attribute this success to our talented athletes, dedicated coaches, senior class’ great leadership, and to the strong support of our programs by the BHS community,” said Superintendent Meg Mayo-Brown. “Congratulations to all of Barnstable’s student-athletes. We are so proud of your accomplishments and achievements.”
