Barnstable’s Tax Allocation Stays at Factor of One

AFFORDABLE HOUSINGBARNSTABLE – Town Council voted on the annual tax allocation last week, keeping a factor of one instead of a split tax.

This means that businesses and residents will be taxed at the same rate.

The council also voted to adopt a 20 percent residential exemption, which would not change the overall money raised through property tax, but would allow the town to shift a portion of the tax levy between different classes of property.
