Boston Pops Returning to Nantucket This Weekend; Unruh Announced as MC

NANTUCKET – Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra return to Nantucket this weekend for the 20th Annual Pops on Nantucket.

The event, which takes place at Jetties Beach, serves as a fundraiser for Nantucket Cottage Hospital. It the largest fundraiser of the year for the hospital

This year’s Master of Ceremonies is WCVB News Anchor Heather Unruh, a long-time Nantucket summer resident. Unruh has been at Channel 5 since 2001.

“I am so thrilled to help kick off the 20th anniversary of the Boston Pops on Nantucket concert,” said Unruh. “Listening to the beautiful music and watching the stunning fireworks with toes in the sand has been a special tradition in our family. This year in particular should be spectacular, and I am honored to serve as Master of Ceremonies.”

Kenny Loggins, one half of the duo Loggins and Messina, will serve as this year’s musical guest. Loggins’ solo career included soundtrack hits for movies like “Footloose,” “Top Gun,” and “Caddyshack.”

The Pops travel across the sound on Sunday for the annual Pops by the Sea concert in Hyannis.
