Bourne Fire Chief Stepping Down

BOURNE -Bourne Fire Chief Norman Sylvester has tendered his resignation to Town Manager Thomas Guerino in a letter citing his accomplishments as well as criticizing the overall attitude at the department.

In the letter, Sylvester says  the department has become more about “What’s in it for me,” rather than considering what’s best for the community.

He also  referred to what he called his successes, including hiring an assistant chief, negotiating a new union contract, reviewing and updating rules and regulations and aquiring new equipment.

Sylvester said the decision to step down was a difficult one.

Also in the letter the Chief said he was proud of the members of the department praising their hard work during his tenure.

Sylvester’s resignation takes place July 5th, he has been chief since 2015.
