Can We Restore Our Coastal Habitats? APCC to Co-Host Sea Rise Lecture

BOSTON – As the seas rise, can we restore our coastal habitats?

That’s the question which will be posed at a lecture this evening hosted by the Harvard Museum of Natural History in collaboration with the Association to Preserve Cape Cod.

With a sea level rise, the potential loss of coastal habitats is seen as a threat across the globe. This would be of particular concern in the eastern United States, where coastlines are largely developed and offer few open spaces for habitats to move inland if present natural lands are lost.

Harvard and Rutgers Professor Steven Handel will discuss strategies to help maintain our coastal character and the ecological services of coastal habitats that are critical to the social, cultural, and environmental well-being of our region.

If you can’t make it up to Cambridge tonight, the event will be live-streamed on Facebook.
