Cape Arts & Entertainment Board Member Named Volunteer of the Year

HYANNIS – The Philanthropy Partners of the Cape & Islands recently named the vice chair of the Cape Arts & Entertainment Board of Trustees as the Outstanding Volunteer of the Year.

Ellen Dickinson was recognized for her fundraising work for the Cape Symphony and Conservatory’s educational programs, including Music Works! Everday Education program and Music Memory, which teaches 16 pieces of classical music to participating students across Cape Cod.

She also directed fundraising for the organization’s annual Artinit Partini by approaching several local businesses to donate auction items, along with motivating other board members to do the same to support Cape Symphony and Conservatory programs.

Dickinson joined the board of Cape Arts & Entertainment in 2016 and became vice chair within a year.

“Ellen gives of her time and talents above and beyond what most volunteers do, and does it all with a wonderful sense of humor and graciousness,” said Stephanie Weaver, the executive director of the Cape Conservatory. “She quietly and determinedly goes about her work on behalf of the organization, and is passionate about our mission to inspire joy through the arts.”

Dickinson also served as president of the lower Cape Outreach Council board of directors, on the Friends of the Snow Library Board of Directors in Orleans, and as treasurer of the Namequoit Sailing Association Board of Directors.
