Cape Cod Attorney Jay McMahon to Announce Bid for State Senate Seat

BARNSTABLE – Cape Cod attorney Jay McMahon will be formally announcing his candidacy for the Plymouth and Barnstable State Senate seat on Tuesday, November 19.

“After very serious deliberation and much encouragement, I will be formally announcing my candidacy for the State Senate,” said McMahon. “I believe that our communities need strong leadership at the State House to fight for our unique issues. As the next Senator, I am committed to being a fiscal watchdog for the taxpayers, ending the opioid crisis, and using my extensive experience in strengthening our criminal justice system so that victims are protected.”

“My goal is to put you first, the hard working people who the State House has forgotten, first.”

The formal announcement will take place at 2pm at Plymouth Rock and will be followed by a campaign kick-off at Mezza Luna Restaurant at 6pm.

McMahon was the Republican nominee in the race for Massachusetts Attorney General last year but lost to Maura Healey.

McMahon is a trial attorney who has litigated cases at every level in the Massachusetts Court system, as well as within the Federal system.

He has a small business in Buzzards Bay and has law enforcement and corporate management experience.

He’s seeking to replace Senator Vinny deMacedo who announced recently that he is stepping down from his seat to take a position with Bridgewater State University.

Falmouth Selectman Susan Moran has also announced her bid for deMacedo’s seat for the Plymouth-Barnstable district.
