BARNSTABLE – As September continues to creep up on nature lovers, birds will begin to migrate south for the approaching winter, and the Cape Cod Bird Club members will be out in the field to observe it all.
Upcoming guided walks will help birders of all skill levels enjoy the diversity of bird life available during this time of year.
Coming up on Friday, September 16th at 10 a.m., a walk along Morris Island in Chatham will scope out shorebirds under the guidance of naturalist Stephanie Paventy.
On Saturday, September 24th at 7 a.m., Peter Crosson will lead participants on a walk through Sandy Neck Beach in Barnstable. Seabirds, waders, warblers, sparrows and more are expected to be seen.
An indoor meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday, September 12th at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in Brewster will bring Dr. Lisa Sorenson of BirdsCaribbean to the Cape. The ornithologist will make a presentation on the biodiversity of the Caribbean and how conservation efforts have improved the conditions for over 170 species of birds there.
