HYANNIS – Spare change will buy a lot of diapers for families in need.

TD Bank asked its customers to bag up any loose change they had around the house and bring it in to the bank for a donation to the local nonprofit, A Baby Center. The bank matched the donations for a total of $2,500.

A Baby Center serves 500 babies each month and provides essentials such as diapers, clothes and medical items needed for members of the center.

Paula Warsal, Field Market Manager for TD Bank, said the donation will go a long way.

“The average diaper according to Mary Pat [Piersons] at the baby center, will cost anywhere between 25 to 50 cents, so with these funds, they can purchase up to 10,800 diapers,” said Warsal.

Officials with the TD Bank in Hyannis presented a check to A Baby Center on Friday.

Warsal said the bank’s employees came together to promote and help with the donations.

“The excitement we had surpassed some of the other events I’ve been to, so it was just great. Cape Codders love to give,” said Warsal.
