Cape Cod YMCA Helps Raise Money for Hurricane Relief Efforts

WEST BARNSTABLE – The YMCA of Cape Cod joined forces with YMCAs from across the state to raise thousands of dollars for the hurricane relief efforts in Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico.

The Alliance of Massachusetts YMCAs raised $75,000 this month that will go to support Y staff members who were impacted by the storms. Last month, the group raised money to support Y clubs that were damaged by the recent string of hurricanes.

“We all work hard to raise funds to meet our local needs, but this succession of natural disasters demanded more of each of us,” said Stacie Peugh, the CEO of the Cape Cod YMCA and the Chairperson of the Massachusetts Alliance of YMCAs. “I can honestly say that each Y stretched to give a meaningful contribution but more importantly, together, we amplified each other’s efforts. We are always strongest when we pool our resoruces and work together to maximize donations to support affected staff.

The money was raised over a 5-day period.
