PLYMOUTH – Members of the Cape Downwinders are holding a demonstration on the Route 3 overpass in Kingston this afternoon, to protect the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s decision to approve the license transfer from Entergy to Holtec.

The group is asking for the transfer to be halted in order to allow to allow for an adjudicatory hearing that has been requested by the Attorney General’s Office and Pilgrim Watch.

“In their petition to intervene, the AGO identified the risk of a funding shortfall is radiological, environmental, and financial,” said Cape Downwinders Director Diane Turco. “This is a serious matter that must not be rushed in order to accommodate Holtec’s bottom line.”

The demonstration will take place from 4-5:30pm at the Route 3 overpass/3A Kingston at exit 9.
