HYANNIS – A number of towns across the Cape are hosting ceremonies to mark the 14th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Barnstable Village will hold its seventh annual joint ceremony at the Barnstable Fire Department and St. Mary’s Episcopal Church.
The first ceremony will be held at the fire station on Rt. 6A in Barnstable Village at 9:55 a.m. and the afternoon ceremony will be held at the same location at 4 p.m. and will be led by Barnstable Fire Chief Frank Pulsifer.
A short procession will be held at the conclusion of the ceremony on Rt. 6A up to St. Mary’s Church.
“One of the reasons we do this every year is obviously to recognize the heroic efforts that happened September 11, 2001,” said Pulsifer.
Provincetown is hosting their annual event at 9 a.m. on Shankpainter Road, across from the Police and Fire Stations.
Brewster’s ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. at Fire Headquarters and will include musical performances by the Nauset Regional Middle School Chorus.

Hyannis hosting their 14th annual memorial service at Hyannis Fire Department Headquarters at 10 a.m.
At noon, Falmouth will begin their observance called “Honoring the Past and Facing the Future with Hope” near the flag pole in front of Falmouth Hospital.
During the attacks, two F-15 fighter jets were dispatched from Otis Air Force Base in Buzzards Bay.
“A lot of local people were very impacted by this and we certainly don’t want to forget any of the heroes that gave their time and their energy and unfortunately some of the heroes lost their lives in the attack,” said Pulsifer.
