CARE of Cape Cod Celebrates 5 Years With Award Ceremony

YARMOUTH – CARE for the Cape and Islands hosted their 5th anniversary celebration last week at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod.

The event feature an awards ceremony, allowing the organization to recognize those in the community supporting CARE’s mission of community service and environmental preservation.

A $5,000 Anniversary Grant was awarded Island Grown Initiative to develop food waste stations for the annual Martha’s Vineyard Agricultural Fair.

The contribution will help to divert as much as one ton of food waste, while also educating and engaging island residents.

The 2017 Stewardship award was presented to Falmouth’s Mary Ryther of Compost With Me. The group promotes education and collaboration for the sake of the local environment.
