Chafee Ends White House bid

med500001WASHINGTON (AP) — Lincoln Chafee is ending his Democratic presidential campaign. The former Rhode Island governor made the announcement this morning at a women’s forum held by the Democratic National Committee.

Chafee delivered a widely panned debate performance earlier this month. He has struggled to raise money and gain traction against Democrats Hillary Rodham Clinton and Bernie Sanders.

Chafee’s departure leaves three main candidates in the race: Clinton, Sanders and former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley. Former Virginia Sen. Jim Webb has also announced he’s dropping out, and Vice President Joe Biden this week decided against running for president.
