Chatham Ecumenical Council Marks 25 Years Helping Residents

CHATHAM – The Chatham Ecumenical Council to Prevent Homelessness held its fall meeting last Thursday.

Since its founding 25 years ago, the group has raised over 1.3 million dollars and given out 1400 grants.

President Neill Taylor talked about the work of volunteers over the years.

“What you’ve done with your donations is very impressive. CECH in the 25 years since it was founded in 1993 has donated $1.3 million. There have been over 1,400 grants,” Taylor said.

He also said they’re always ready to help.

“We want to step in at the right time and get somebody through a crisis and get them connected to resources that can provide long term assistance,” said Taylor.

Several dozen supporters gathered at the meeting held at the Atwood House in Chatham.
