Clinton Wins Overwhelmingly in SC

AP LogoCOLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Bernie Sanders’ roughly 50-point loss to Hillary Clinton in the South Carolina Democratic presidential primary underscored his weakness with black voters.

If he continues to lose that crucial segment of the Democratic electorate in the Super Tuesday primaries this week, it could give Clinton a lead that would be difficult to overcome.

For Clinton, the overwhelming victory propelled her into clear frontrunner status ahead of the March 1 voting. Clinton’s margin included support from 9 in 10 black voters, serving as a strong send off toward Super Tuesday.

The Associated Press delegate count shows Clinton gaining 39 of the 53 delegates at stake in South Carolina.
