Companion Animal Program to Host Children’s Event in West Barnstable

WEST BARNSTABLE – The Companion Animal Program dogs will return to Whelden Memorial Library in West Barnstable on Sunday, October 10.

The nonprofit organization’s mission is to enhance the quality of life for  Cape Cod residents through the therapeutic support of trained and certified companion animals.

Although originally organized to serve the older and disabled population, CAP has expanded to additionally serve children and youth in library, school, college and related settings.

CAP continues to work with those who live or participate in out-of-home, day and residential and hospital programs.

The highly trained dogs will provide joy to children and adults in the Children’s Room at the Library on October 10 from 10 to 11 a.m.

A dog-themed story time will be will be led by Miss Lizzy, followed by time to visit with and read to the dogs.

Registration is appreciated but drop in visits are welcome. Call 508-362-2262 to register.

Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult.
