The film won 10 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, for its adaption of the smash Broadway musical inspired by “Romeo and Juliet.”

The film stars Natalie Woods and Richard Beymer and tells a tale of forbidden love between Tony and Maria, who are allied with rival gangs – the Sharks and the Jets.

It is also known for its score and lyrics by Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim and features the songs “Maria,” “Tonight,” and “America.”

“It won’t be ‘just any night,’” said David Kuehn, the executive director of Cotuit Center for the Arts. “The audience is invited to be part of the cast and sing along with all the rousing and wonderful songs from this celebrated show.”

Cotuit Center for the Arts is located at 4404 Route 28 in Cotuit.
