DENNIS –  The International Fund for Animal Welfare rescued seven Atlantic white-sided dolphins Sunday after they became stranded near Chapin Beach in Dennis.

Crews from IFAW, the National Marine Life Center and AmeriCorps all rushed to save the dolphins around 9 a.m.

They were released later in the day at Scusset Beach in Sandwich.

A spokesperson from IFAW said some of the dolphins weighed more than 450 pounds, requiring extra help in the rescue and the return to the water.
