FALMOUTH – The town of Falmouth has a new Fire Chief.

Deputy Chief Michael Small, who had been serving as the chief on an interim basis, was approved unanimously by the board of selectmen this week after being selected by Town Manager Julian Suso.

Suso believes Small was the right choice.

“He has performed admirably over the past 5 months as the acting director of fire,” Suso said. “Mike was also the strongest candidate coming out of the recent assessment center process.”

Small, who has been with the department for 28 years, replaces Chief Mark Sullivan who retired in January.

“I’m honored and humbled and I pledge to just do the best that I can,” Small said. “And I appreciate the opportunity.”
