FALMOUTH – Selectmen in Falmouth were treated last week to a final report from the town’s citizens’ advisory committee.
Committee Chairwoman Alison Leschen informed the board of her groups recommendations for a roadway reconstruction project, which will come following the completion of new water main installation project.
“In general, there was recognition that the existing conditions in that area for pedestrians and cyclists are pretty terrible,” Ms. Leschen said. “There was also a wide agreement that the original plan, while it did not involve takings, took up most of the 60-foot right-of-way and was overkill.”
Leschen proposed a six-foot-wide multimodal path between Sandwich Road and Falmouth Lumber, which would extend to eight feet in width. The south side of the will feature an eight-foot-wide path, each separated from the street by a two-foot vegetative buffer.
She told selectmen that public input has been solicited throughout the process.
