FALMOUTH – Teachers displaced from the Teaticket Elementary School in Falmouth visited their temporary classrooms Tuesday as they prepare for the start of the academic year.

The Falmouth School Department closed down the Teaticket school building after asbestos was discovered in the building earlier this month. It’s believed HVAC work over the summer disturbed the hazardous materials.

As a result of the closure, more than 300 Teaticket students will be moved to the East Falmouth and Morse Pond Elementary schools while the problem is fixed. Students in 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade will be relocated temporarily to Morse Pond School and students in kindergarten through 1st grade will be at East Falmouth School.

An open house is planned for Wednesday night at 6:30 at the Morse Pond school for any interested parents and students.

Teaticket will continue to run their own busses for their students between both locations with four busses going to Morse Pond and four going to East Falmouth.

The start time for both schools will be 9:05 a.m. and the first day of classes is September 6.

The school district is strongly urging Teaticket students to take busses to school to ease congestion at both locations.
