Fatal Drug Overdoses Remain Steady in Plymouth, Wareham in 2018

PLYMOUTH – The number of fatal drug overdoses remained steady in 2018 for the towns of Plymouth and Wareham despite a decrease throughout all of Plymouth County.

Plymouth County Outreach released its 2018 report which showed an increase of fatal ODs in Plymouth from 12 to 13. Fatal ODs in Wareham remained at 15.

Wareham also had 144 non-fatal overdoses in 2017 and 2018 with Plymouth’s non-fatal ODs falling from 215 to 155.

Plymouth County encompasses 27 communities along the south coast from Hingham to Mattapoisett.

Countywide, fatal overdoses fell from 147 to 121 in 2018, or 18 percent. Non-fatal overdoses decreased by 13 percent from 1,529 to 1,338.
