HYANNIS – The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has proclaimed October as national seafood month.
Based on their evaluation of fisheries management efforts, NOAA found that between 2013 and 2014, fishermen landed 9.9 billion pounds of fish and shellfish.
That’s an estimated $5.5 billion worth, an increase of 245 million pounds compared to 2012.
Last year, U.S. fish stocks received a boost too: up to 37 species rebuilt since 2000.
